Biography

Assistant professor Iva Movre Šapić completed her studies in physics at the Faculty of Science at the University of Zagreb, Department of Physics in 2001. She defended her doctoral thesis entitled "Vibrational dynamics and structure of organosilanes" in 2011 at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Department of Physics.

Since 2001, she has been employed at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, University of Zagreb, Department of Physics as a research assistant until 2011, and then as a senior assistant. From 2015 to 2021, she worked at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at the University of Zagreb as a lecturer, and later as an assistant professor.

At the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, she participated in teaching the Physics course until the 2004/2005 academic year and Physics I and Physics II since the introduction of the Bologna process. On the mentioned courses, she held seminars and, as part of them, colloquia as well as written exams. As of 2021, she holds the Physics I and Physics II courses in two study programs. She is the supervisor of 6 diploma thesis and 12 final theses.

As a collaborator, she participated in the scientific projects “Physical properties of partially ordered molecular systems”, “Vibrational dynamics and structure of multifunctional polymer systems” and was also a collaborator in the project "Building Croatian Vocational Nomenclature (STRUNA)-2". She is currently a collaborator in the project "Development of augmented reality mobile applications and IoT devices for real and virtual laboratory environments in physics and chemical engineering of materials".

By participating in scientific workshops and open days of the home faculty, she is engaged in the popularisation of science. In 2010, she participated in the evaluation of student work at the 41st International Physics Olympiad in Zagreb.

She was a member of the Croatian Physical Society until its closure.

Her scientific interests include vibrational spectroscopy, quantum-mechanical calculations and the application of modern technologies in physics education.
