Description:
Advanced processes of petroleum refinery and petrochemistry
Modern refinery processes that include the oil and its products refining related to the production of motor fuels of prestigious and environmentally friendly properties in use. Engineering aspects of process implementation, catalyst characteristics, kinetic and reaction models, specifics of new technologies, process optimization. The processes for complete removal of sulfur and nitrogen compounds, as well as for the reduction of aromatic hydrocarbons content in the products in order to reduce emissions of harmful substances during their use. Disadvantages of the current processes of sulfur compounds removal, introduction to the basics of advanced processes of sulfur compounds removal by selective adsorption and extraction, oxidative desulfurization and biodesulfurization.
Petrochemical industry: oil and its derivatives, natural gas, biomass variety of raw materials. Fundamentals of chemical reactions and conversion processes of hydrocarbon: reaction mechanisms, thermodynamic, kinetic and process conditions. Balance of matter and energy. The most important production processes: steam reforming and partial oxidation to synthesis gas, thermal and catalytic cracking. Fischer Tropsch synthesis. Oligomerization and polymerization processes.
Economy and ecological aspects of chemical processes.
The latest trends in biorefinery production. Development of alternative technologies for the production of biofuels (biogas, bioethanol, biodiesel) and biochemica.

DESCRIPTION
Lectures will be held at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology. Each student will be additionally assigned a topic of the seminar paper, preferably from a field related to or close to the topic of the doctoral thesis.
DESCRIPTION OF TEACHING METHODS
Teaching methods individually adjusted to the student: lectures and / or consultations.
DESCRIPTION OF THE MANNER OF PERFORMANCE OF OBLIGATIONS
Preparation of an independent seminar paper related to a topic of scientific or professional interest for a student. Oral exam.
LEARNING OUTCOMES AT COURSE LEVEL
