The course objective is to teach students to work with the software package MATLAB / Simulink and its advanced functions for the purpose of implementing chemical engineering calculations, apply process modeling tools and graphical display and analysis of measurement data.

Course content:
1. MATLAB / Simulink high level simulation language. Work environment and basic operations.
2. Working with matrices and fields. Data structure and programming. Simulation of processes and systems using MATLAB. Simulation methods and tools.
3. Advanced MATLAB functions. Drawing and graphic representation. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics.
4. Basics of symbolic computation in MATLAB. Symbolic calculation functions. Examples from linear algebra. Solving symbolic equations. Special features.
5. Processing of measurement data in the Curve Fitting Toolbox. Parametric and non-parametric adjustment.
6. Linear and nonlinear adjustment procedures. Statistical parameters quality settings.
7. Spline Toolbox. Implementation and application of regression analysis methods.
8. Work in the System Identification Toolbox. Development of dynamic process models using identification methods. Parametric and nonparametric identification procedures. Model validation.
9. Graphical environment when working with the System Identification Toolbox. Example of identification based on data from a real industrial process
10. Basic Simulink. Modeling, simulation and analysis of dynamic systems in a graphical environment. Interaction of MATLAB and Simulink.
11. Work in the graphic environment Simulink. Performance and work with models process, graphical display, work with blocks. Analysis of results simulations.
12. Examples of linear and nonlinear systems, continuous and discrete models, hybrid systems.

1. Solve systems of equations by matrix calculation in a software package.
2. Apply advanced MATLAB functions for data analysis and display.
3. Perform symbolic functions and calculations.
4. Preprocess and analyze measurement data using Statistics, Curve Fitting, Spline and System Identification Toolbox.
5. Develop process models in the graphical user interface using Simulink.
6. Solve practical examples of continuous, discrete and hybrid systems
