Description:
1st week: Countable and uncountable nouns in English. Description of the scientific methods of research.
2nd week: Indefinite articles a and an. When the indefinite articles are used in English. Safety in the lab. How to prepare for an experiment in the lab.
3rd week: Definite article THE and when it is used in the English language. Giving instructions while an experiment is being conducted by using new vocabulary specific to the field of chemistry in English.
4th week: What words can be used to describe amount with countable and uncountable nouns in English. Describing the procedure of an experiment in English.
5th week: Asking questions by using How much or How many in English. Describing the results of an experiment conducted in the laboratory.
6th week: Reading and writing numerals, fractions and numbers with decimal points in English.
7th week: Measuring units. Abbreviations for various measuring units in English.
8th week: Weight expressed by using fractions, percentages and how to read the findings in English.
9th week: Comparison of adjectives in English. Rules on how to correctly use the order of adjectives: opinion adjectives and fact adjectives in English. Superlative of adjectives.
10th week: Expressing similarities and differences by using expressions ¨"as ...... as" something else.
11th week: Writing a lab report on an experiment conducted in the lab in English.
12th week: Various charts that can be used to show various scientific discoveries and results of research by using expert terminology in English.
13th week: Presenting posters live before the class or online in the expert metalanguage specific to chemists in English.
14th week: Power point presentations before the class in person or online.
15th week: The end of the semester exam online.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Naming and describing the lab instruments in the English language for special purposes.
  2. Finding relevant information in a long scientific article.
  3. The use of the comparative and superlative form of adjectives to describe the results of experiments in the English language for special purposes.
  4. To present a scientific paper in written and oral form online in the English language for special purposes.
