TITLE: Packaging polymeric materials
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
Introducing students to packaging polymeric materials, their role and their importance in packaging industry and application.

3. Packaging and labeling, production and consumption
4. Properties and characteristics of packaging material

6. Polymers for packaging materials

9. Layered packaging materials
10. Technological design procedures
11. Packaging materials and waste - characterization
12. Disposal of packaging materials
13. Recycling of packaging materials.

Seminar paper:
- Making a presentation and / or written seminar paper on a given topic
DEVELOPMENT OF GENERAL AND SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES OF STUDENTS:
General competencies of students - students are trained and become competent to work in the field of polymeric packaging materials and gain insight into the field of disposal of polymeric packaging waste.
Specific competencies of students - acquire knowledge and competencies about the importance of packaging polymer materials and acquire knowledge for their quality control.
STUDENTS 'TEACHING OBLIGATIONS AND THEIR PERFORMANCE:
Attendance at all forms of teaching is mandatory, a minimum of 75%. Absence from exercise must be compensated. Before taking the exam, the student is required to prepare and colloquize all exercises, submit a seminar paper. During the classes, the students' readiness is monitored, for activity and knowledge the student gets a plus, and for absences, inactivity and unpreparedness he gets a minus.
CONDITIONS FOR OBTAINING A SIGNATURE:
After completing all forms of teaching, the student receives a signature, which is a prerequisite for taking the exam

1. Lectures - Power point presentation,
2. Seminars - presentation or written sem. work
METHOD OF EXAMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXAMINATION:
The exam consists of a written and an oral part.
Assessment of knowledge and readiness of students from the seminar is assessed after the presentation of the paper and web presentation.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. explain, single out, understand the knowledge related to the function of polymer packaging, the relationship between goods and packaging, the properties of polymer packaging materials for packaging different types of goods.
2. to single out, summarize, compare knowledge related to the legal framework and legislation, the property-structure relationship of materials, technologies for processing polymeric materials into packaging products
3. select, plan, use individual methods of processing control and quality control of manufactured products
4. interpret, interpret laboratory results in written and oral form to non-experts, experts in other fields and international partners
5. develop new procedures / processes for the development of new polymeric packaging materials
6. support, develop work ethic, personal responsibility and the need for continuous further training
LEARNING OUTCOMES AT PROGRAM LEVEL:
1. connect the basic elements of material chemistry and engineering: structure, properties, production and use of materials
2. link expertise in chemistry and materials engineering with awareness of the impact on society, the economy and the environment
3. select appropriate methods and equipment related to the production, characterization and use of materials, taking into account safety at work
4. use laboratory equipment and devices when characterizing materials
5. to connect the results obtained by various methods with literary knowledge in order to interpret them as completely as possible
6. develop production processes and material quality testing
7. use different methods of communication with the scientific and engineering community and society as a whole
8. explain the results of their work to non-experts, experts in other fields and international partners
