We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the WearSense project team - Wearable Optical Chemical Sensors for Multimodal Determination of Biomarkers - at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology.
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract of 20 months duration, closing date for receipt of applications is July 4th 2024.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, fabricate, and characterise optical chemical sensing (nano)materials
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary team to integrate chemical sensors onto wearable devices
- Perform analytical testing, data analysis and reporting
- Participate in the planning and performance of detailed laboratory work
- Undertake short-term research visits to international collaborators’ laboratories
- Co-author research findings in scientific journals and present at international conferences
Requirements:
- PhD qualification in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science/engineering biochemistry, or related scientific or engineering field
- Experienced in practical laboratory work
- Hands-on design and synthesis/fabrication of functional (nano)materials
- Familiarity with UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopic and functional characterisation methods
- Proven record of academic writing and publication in scientific journals
- Well-organised and independent worker who functions well in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills in English
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques and methodologies
- Prior experience in design and characterisation of (bio)chemical sensors
- Chemical functionalisation of (nano)biomaterials
