Biography

Martina Miloloža was born in Osijek, where she completed primary and secondary school. In 2013, she enrolled at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at the University of Zagreb (FKIT) for a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering. She completed her undergraduate studies in 2016 with a thesis on Noise Pollution under the mentorship of Prof. Ph.D. Marije Vuković Domanovac. In the same year, she enrolled in the Master's degree programme in Environmental Engineering at FKIT. During her bachelor's and master's studies, she participated in conferences and took part in the work of the journalism team of the student section of the Croatian Society of Chemical Engineers and Technologists. She won the award for the second best poster in 2018 at the 2nd Student Congress of Environmental Health in Rijeka. She is the winner of the Rector's Award for individual scientific and artistic work in the academic year 2016/2017. with the work of M. Miloloža, N. Janton, Potential of isolated bacterial cultures in the creation of activated sludge for bioremediation of pharmaceutical wastewater. At the same time, she won the prize for the best student in the Environmental Engineering degree programme in 2016. In 2018, she completed her studies at Department of Industrial Ecology with the topic Assessment of the impact of erythromycin on the bacterial culture of Pseudomonas putida isolated from pharmaceutical wastewater under the supervision of prof. Ph.D. Marije Vuković Domanovac. In 2018, she also received the Vjera Marjanović-Krajovan award, which is awarded by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology to the best graduate student. In February 2019, she was got a position as an assistant at FKIT in the Department of Industrial Ecology. In the same year, she enrolled in a PhD programme of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at FKIT. She completed her PhD thesis as part of the HRZZ project Application of advanced water treatment technologies for the removal of microplastics (IP-2019-04-9661). The research focused on assessing the ecotoxic potential of microplastics using various toxicity tests and determining the efficiency of bacteria isolated from the environment in the biodegradation of microplastics. She defended her dissertation titled "Bioremediation of water contaminated with microplastics using bacteria isolated from the environment" in 2023 under the supervision of Associate Professor. Ph.D. Dajane Kučić Grgić and prof. Ph.D. Šime Ukić. So far, she has published six scientific papers as part of her doctoral thesis, in which she is the first author, four of them in scientific journals from the first quartile, one in a journal from the second quartile and one in a journal from the third quartile. From 2019 to date, she has published 14 scientific papers in journals cited in the WoS-CC database, published 6 papers in conference proceedings and participated in more than 70 scientific conferences at home and abroad. At the same time, she has been involved in the preparation of several professional studies for industry needs. She is the indirect supervisor of several theses and graduate theses. He regularly participates in workshops for lifelong education and science promotion. As part of his teaching activities, she participates in the management of a number of courses at FKIT: Microbiology, Environmental Protection, Ecotoxicology, Application of Ecotoxicology, Ecology, Waste Composting, Chemistry in Environmental Protection and Chemical and Biochemical Processes in Soil and Sediment.
