Biography

Ines Bera completed her graduate studies at Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at the University of Zagreb in 2017. During her studies, she focused on the field of electrochemistry and chemical protection of materials through an internship in the laboratory of Cortec Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota and working on Master's thesis titled "Development of a Method for Testing the Retention of Corrosion Inhibitors on Metal Surfaces," under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sanja Martinez.  After graduating, she gained experience in quality control at INGUN Prüfmittelbau GmbH before devoting herself to science again. Since January 2020, she has been working at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology as an assistant at the Department of Electrochemistry. In the same year, she became an doctoral candidate of the Croatian Science Foundation and enrolled in the postgraduate doctoral program Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry.  Ines is focusing her doctoral research on corrosion protection, in particular on the research of innovative electrochemical methods for evaluating the protective properties of oxide compounds, patinas and coatings on metals under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sanja Martinez.  She is working on a project entitled "Development of New Solutions for the Characterization and Protection of Bronze Cultural Heritage Exposed to the External Environment," funded by HrZZ.  During her doctoral studies, Ines has written three scientific papers and actively participated in nine domestic and international conferences. She has also helped organize and run Corrosion Summer Schools at the Department of Electrochemistry and assisted with the experimental aspects of several Bachelor's and Master's theses.
